HEART OF AJMAN

 The Bioreactors system

Master's in urban design

Urban Infill Project.

Urban Design, Studio II.

Project Size: 95 Hectare

Year: 2019

Location: Ajman, Al-Rashidiya

Description:

Throughout the historical development of the Al-Rashidiya area, particularly along the coastline, local communities have maintained a strong connection to the sea through fishing, sea cruising, and various maritime activities. However, the expansion of industrial zones surrounding the waterfront has significantly impacted the natural environment, resulting in severe water pollution that altered both the water’s appearance and its ecological quality.

In response, the project proposes a sustainable and innovative solution aimed at reconnecting the community with the waterfront and restoring the vitality of the coastal environment. The proposal integrates a series of bioreactors along the shoreline, utilizing algae-based systems to support water purification, improve environmental conditions, and revive the relationship between the public and the sea.
