Microalgae nest, Future Engine of Biodiversity.

Bachelor’s Degree Graduation Project

Year: 2016

Location: Ras Al Khor - Dubai

Achievement:

An Award-winning project selected by Autodesk University in 2016 as one of the best projects in the Middle East, and exhibited at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Design Philosophy:

This proposal centers on bioreactors that capture carbon dioxide and convert it into fuel using microalgae. These organisms double rapidly, enabling daily biomass and biofuel production far beyond traditional crops. Once a site is selected, a structural system will support their growth, adapting to harvesting needs.
This fosters a sustainable ecosystem that promotes biodiversity and conservation. Notably, as Dr. Hernández from Masdar Institute notes, microalgae can thrive in desert conditions in the UAE, ensuring no impact on the Arabian Gulf ecosystem.
